We specialise in Age & Liver Spot Removal for men and women. At our beauty salon in Victoria SW1, Central London and close to Pimlico, Westminster and St James’s, all of our Age & Liver Spot Removal treatments are undertaken after consultation at the discretion of the beauty therapist.
Age spots are also known as sun spots, liver spots, lentigos, or lentigines. These lesions are flat, tan, brown, or dark brown spots on sun-exposed skin. As people age, sun spots, liver spots most commonly appear on the backs of the hands, the forearms, neck, chest, and face. Age spots are associated with cumulative sun exposure. The pigment producing cells in the skin (called melanocytes) are activated to produce more pigment (melanin) by ultraviolet rays. While these spots are not themselves cancerous, you may be at risk for skin cancer if you have them.
Advanced Electrolysis at St James beauty salon offers a solution that is safe, effective, and only takes a few treatments to achieve exceptional results. Advanced Electrolysis has been successfully used for the reduction of the appearance of age spots/ liver spots and other discolorations.
How does the removal of age spots & liver spots work?
Using sterile probes to lift the damaged tissue without incisions, encouraging the growth of new, healthy, normally-pigmented skin. The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes, and your results may take a while to be fully revealed, but they can last for years. This is often viewed as the best anti-aging treatment option available.
Laser for age spot removal
We use the Q Switched Nd:YAG laser to treat flat brown marks such as age spots or solar lentigos, which are typically caused by sun exposure. The laser uses a powerful beam of light that shines through the outer layer of the skin. The brown pigment absorbs the light energy and gets very hot for a fraction of a second. This is enough to break up the pigment.
It is usual to allow at least two months between treatments for the damaged pigment to be absorbed and the skin to recover.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for the treatment including tanned individuals.
What does treatment feel like?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable and a warm, tingling sensation not unlike sunburn is experienced afterwards.
What will I look like after treatment?
The skin may be slightly red and the pigment marks will darken and may appear more obvious before they fade away.
Are there any side effects?
Most people experience little more than slight reddening and possibly mild swelling, which usually disappear within hours to a couple of days. Very rarely a small blister may form or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin can occur.
