Cosmetic Tattooing / Permanent Makeup

At St James, we use pigmentation treatments to great success in providing permanent makeup solutions. Cosmetic tattooing or Permanent Makeup, provides an alternative to traditional daily makeup. With permanent makeup you can wake up every day with makeup that stays perfectly in place throughout the day, which means you look your absolute best, 24 hours a day.

Facial cosmetic tattooing procedures include:

  • Permanent eyeliner
  • Permanent eyebrows
  • Permanent lip liner
  • Full lip shading
  • Camouflage of unwanted scarring

The main reason for the cosmetic tattooing procedure is to allow you to maintain a perfect, yet natural-looking image, without the reapplication of traditional make up.

The Cosmetic Tattooing Procedure

The cosmetic tattooing process is just like getting a tattoo. The beautician who is administering the cosmetic tattooing procedure uses a needle that penetrates the skin and releases a pigment.

Before undertaking the cosmetic tattooing treatment a test patch is applied to your skin to check whether you have an allergic reaction to the pigment to be used. After that the colour will be chosen, based on advice and suggestions from the beautician. The beautician will then use a sterile surgical pen to sketch the area to be tattooed.

Using a hollow, vibrating needle, the beautician will apply the chosen pigment to the top layer of the skin. A droplet of pigment is released into the hole the needle makes. This procedure is continued until the beautician is satisfied the area to be treated is complete. You may at times feel a slight stinging sensation. It mat take up to three weeks for the pigmentation to fade to its permanent shade. After getting permanent makeup, it takes about three weeks for the color to fade to its permanent shade.
